CROWN Collection Wendy "MoMa" Michel AFH Open Studio

An interdisciplinary artist and NeuroArts specialist based in Boston, MoMa has been designing and building MINDART—a Creative Wellness process turned Research Lab that uses art to design therapy—for the last seven years. Her latest collection, “CROWN” explores her subconscious mind through various mediums. It features childlike illustrations, interactive experiences, and storytelling that tracks the cycles, patterns, and challenges of her on-and-off battle with her mental health.

"The intricate line work in my paintings symbolizes the neural pathways of the human brain - constantly shifting, evolving, and adapting. By portraying this complexity in a visual medium, I hope to create a powerful representation of my healing process and inspire others to embark on the journey to "CROWN" The Highest Level of Consciousness." ~ Wendy “MoMa” Michel

AFH Open Studio CROWN Wendy "MoMa" Michel

Originally from Haiti, Wendy migrated to the United States in 1995 and began her journey as a teen artist at Artists For Humanity in South Boston, where she later became a mentor in the painting studio. She stepped into the world studying spirituality and interdisciplinary arts across various mediums and now back in Boston, ready to share her inner journey and to inspire yours. You can learn more about her journey in a recent article in the Boston Globe.

"Through my art, I aim to inspire others to explore their own subconscious minds and experience the transformative power of creative expression. CREATE, It Will Free You." ~ Wendy “MoMa” Michel

So come ready to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and creative expression. Upon arrival, you will be warmly greeted by a team of skilled holistic wellness practitioners. They will be offering complimentary chair massages at the MINDART pop-up wellness station, creating a harmonious and relaxing atmosphere. As part of the experience, you will have the opportunity to engage in a brief wellness session before immersing yourself in the interactive CROWN puzzle.

And as usual, you can join a tour of our award-winning facility, learn about our mission and the work we do, get a behind-the-scenes look at our creative studios, and meet-and-greet AFH teen artists and designers. All in one night!

So please join us—and invite your friends and colleagues—to experience the magic of AFH.
